James Comey is urging Americans to vote for Dems in midterm elections

Expert analysis of the Trump-Putin meeting

Comey took to Twitter on Tuesday to denounce congressional Republicans for having "proven incapable" of holding Trump accountable.

Former FBI Director James Comey has a simple request for voters in this fall's midterm election.

Comey tweeted the message saying that the Republican Congress has failed to fulfill the Founders' design that "Ambition must. counteract ambition".

While it's commendable when people like Comey - a long-time Republican - put country over party, it's not clear they're actually doing the Democrats any favors. "History has its eyes on us".

The move to endorse Democrats comes after the controversial summit in Helsinki, Finland on Monday between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Israeli enemy targets a military site in Aleppo countryside
State news agency SANA yesterday reported a missile strike near a strategic air base but said there were no casualties. The report said the Syrian air defenses confronted the Israeli attack in the Qurs al-Nafl area in Quneitra.

The president defied media and establishment political critics accusing him of allowing Putin to lie about his attempts to influence the 2016 American presidential election.

Comey's tweet came one day after the USA president took Vladimir Putin's side over allegations that Russian Federation interfered with the 2016 election.

Comey's firing paved the way for the appointment of another former Federal Bureau of Investigation chief, Robert Mueller, as special counsel directed to investigate allegations of Russian interference into the 2016 USA election and interactions between foreign entities and the Trump campaign. Most political observers agree that the majority of voters in 2018 won't be casting their ballots based on their feelings about Russian Federation and Trump's treatment of Putin - they'll be voting based on who they think can improve their lives in concrete ways.

"I came back and said 'What is going on, what's the big deal?'" Trump said, adding that he looked up the transcript and "realized that there is a need for some clarification".
