Jim Acosta: Trump Reviewed Kavanaugh on Indicting Sitting President

Trump Expected to Unveil Supreme Court Nominee Monday Night

Who will Trump pick for Supreme Court Justice?

With a slim one-vote majority in the Senate, any GOP defections could prove problematic in winning confirmation for Trump's eventual choice - that is, if Democrats hold together in opposition.

Republican Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana said he was bracing for a tough confirmation battle as Democrats focus on abortion.

If the party sticks together, the president's choice will be sitting on the Supreme Court when its new term starts in October.

ROY BLUNT: They're good judges. "But this is really about the process and whether or not the corporate right is going to be in charge of picking the Supreme Court in a seat, in a nomination that's likely to tip the scales substantially". The Heritage Foundation is the nation's largest conservative think tank and has provided thousands of policy recommendations and personnel suggestions to multiple presidents and to Congress since 1975.

MARTIN: NPR's Sarah McCammon joins us now in studio to talk about the president's choice. "Casey is refusing to even consider the President's #SCOTUS nominee".

Brett Kavanaugh of Washington, D.C. Former President George W. Bush nominated him to the appeals court in 2003.

Departing his New Jersey golf club on Sunday afternoon, Trump told reporters he was still making up his mind. And, you know, the concern would be that something could pop up going through all those papers that could make him a tougher pick.

Russia Sends Cargo to Space Station With Record Speed
The success of this mission may set the way for future Russian cargo and crew launches using the same expedited capability. Elon Musk's SpaceX Dragon commercial cargo supplier and Northrop Grumman's Cygnus take several days to reach the station.

The Times says Trump has recently been asking associates about Hardiman, and has also been talking about Barrett and Kavanaugh.

Barrett, confirmed to the Chicago-based 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on October 31, has faced opposition by abortion rights groups because she has called Roe v. Wade an erroneous decision.

"I've spent the last three days interviewing and thinking about Supreme Court justices".

By Monday Barrett, at 46 the youngest and the only woman of the four, was being widely discounted due to her relative inexperience and her strong views as a social and religious conservative. But Barrett told senators she would not let her staunch Catholic beliefs affect her legal rulings. And Feinstein's question was criticized as anti-Catholic.

The report also noted that the Supreme Court - which recently affirmed freedom of speech in saying pro-life crisis pregnancy centers can not be forced to promote abortion and freedom of religion in a decision on behalf of Masterpiece Cakeshop owner Jack Phillips in the same-sex marriage fight - now is earning its highest approval ratings in several years. Another potential mark against her is she's pretty new to the federal bench. She's just been a federal judge for about a year. The White House has been preparing information materials on all four, who were part of a longer list of 25 names vetted by conservative groups.

The president and White House officials involved in the process have fielded calls and messages and have been on the receiving end of public pleas and op-eds for or against specific candidates since Kennedy announced on June 27 that he would retire this summer. He's been vetted before.

The Senate must confirm Trump's nominee, who will be backed campaign-style by the White House and conservative legal organizations.

MARTIN: Is there any way to discern how much President Trump is weighing the idea of confirmability in his process?
