Leicester agree fee with Liverpool for Danny Ward

Kasper Schmeichel of Leicester City in action during the Premier League match between Burnley and Leicester City at Turf Moor

Leicester City's reported move for Liverpool back-up goalkeeper Danny Ward is expected to set off a chain of events which will see a number of high-profile goalkeepers change clubs.

Wales worldwide Ward is expected to become one of the top keepers in the country but his progress has been blocked by Liverpool's purchase of Alisson Becker for a world record £67.5million.

With Brazilian worldwide Allison on the verge of completing a £67million move to Liverpool from AS Roma, Wrexham-born Ward was set to find his chances of breaking into Jurgen Klopp's first-team limited further, having already fallen behind Loris Karius and Simon Mingolet.

However, the Reds have made significant moves since then, landing their top transfer target in Alisson.

Gerry Doherty set off for a fishing trip along with 16 year old Thomas Weir and another man shortly after 9 yesterday morning. Conditions were good at the water but according to the Coast Guard the water would have been "very cold".

Wrexham-born Ward has since had successful loan spells at Aberdeen and Huddersfield, who he helped clinch promotion to the Premier League in the 2016/17 season making 43 appearances.

The Foxes are looking to provide serious competition for Kasper Schmeichel, who has been their regular starter since his arrival at the club at the start of the 2011-12 season.

Liverpool expect teenage star Ben Woodburn to travel with them for their three-game tour of the US this weekend, despite loan interest from Sheffield United and Norwich.

Gini Wijnaldum and Danny Ings will miss the game at Blackburn due to minor injuries.
