Roger Federer not concerned about start of World Cup game

Football fans celebrating in London on Saturday as England beat Sweden to reach the World Cup semi-final

Wimbledon is standing firm, however, on its decision not to change the start time of Sunday's men's final to avoid a conflict with the World Cup final, even if England makes it that far, Lewis reiterated.

Fans attending Wimbledon can follow the World Cup via their phones or tablets using the tournament's WiFi but matches have not been shown on the big screen since England's semi-final against Germany at Euro 1996.

The All England Club CEO Richard Lewis is confident that everything will go well.

When asked if he was anxious about Sunday's World Cup final in Russian Federation clashing with the Wimbledon men's singles final, Roger Federer couldn't help but laugh.

But Federer offered a contrasting view in his media conference following a 6-0 7-5 6-4 fourth-round win over Adrian Mannarino on Monday.

Gareth Southgate's England have been roared on by fans up and down the country as they defied expectations to set up a semi-final with Croatia - with the match taking place in Moscow on Wednesday.

"It's not unheard of for there to be a ripple of applause or a shout when something special happens in a football tournament, and I'm sure everybody will understand if it does".

"Saturday was a fantastic day at the championships".

Said Lewis: "We want people to be able to enjoy in this modern era the fact that this is a tennis event but that there is something else very special going on".

I was out and about around the grounds and you could tell when England had scored and it was lovely, it was wonderful.

He also told BBC Sport that Wimbledon's big TV screen on "Henman Hill" was reserved for tennis. [Football fans] will hear every point, 'Wow, 0-15, 15-30.' The players are going to look up to the...

When asked if he thought people watching the World Cup final on their devices simultaneously would detract from the atmosphere, Federer added: "It's going to happen anyway, if I'm going in the final or not, the Wimbledon final will take place, and so will the World Cup final".
