Sprint's adding a $70/month unlimited plan and neutering its $60/month one

Sprint outlined its new unlimited pricing

But with more options comes more potential for confusion, as would-be subscribers need to sort through just what each new Sprint plan offers.

The new higher-tier unlimited plan adds some negligible features for $10 more per month. Sprint customers will experience the Network Built for Unlimited at the BEST Price.5 With more mobile broadband spectrum capacity than any USA carrier, Sprint's network is built to meet customers' growing demand for data. The pricing is worse if you're a couple, however, as two lines of Unlimited Freedom costs $90, and two lines of Unlimited Basic is $100. You can add a second line for $40 and third, fourth and fifth lines for $20 each.

There's also a freakish limited-time promo on Unlimited Plus, with prices working out to $22 per month per line for five lines provided you're not leasing a phone through Sprint.

What do you get for that money?

Those music and gaming streaming restrictions are more severe than with Sprint's previous plan, and hotspot data is more limited, too: you get 500MB of LTE shareable data per month with Unlimited Basic, with speeds slowed to 3G after you reach your limit.

In other words, Sprint is raising the price of its current unlimited plan by $10, throwing in a few more features, and hoping you won't notice. This plan also includes subscriptions to Hulu and TIDAL at no additional cost. You'll get 10GB of LTE data when you travel to Canada and Mexico, plus 15GB of LTE hotspot data. Here are the details about our great deals: Get a new iPad on us when you activate a new phone line on an Unlimited Plus or Basic plan.11 The first 10 people through the door who activate a new line (new or existing accounts) with Sprint on Basic or Plus will receive a $50 MasterCard®Prepaid card. It costs $70 for one line, rising to $180 for four lines.

DOJ reopens Emmett Till case after ‘new information’ arises
But Parker says the discussion likely occurred after the release of a book that raised questions about the Till case past year . Till's cousin, Deborah Watts, said she was not told the case was reopened until AP contacted her but said it was "wonderful".

The arrival of Sprint's new unlimited plans means the end of one of the carrier's better offers, though. Instead, Sprint is running a promo for 5-lines and is doing an average price-per-line of $42.

However, despite similar pricing, Basic does not offer the same service Freedom did.

Sprint says families will be able to mix and match its new unlimited plans, opting for either Basic or Plus on different lines. Verizon introduced the same flexibility recently when it reshuffled its unlimited offerings.

Unlimited Basic will offer users unlimited talk, text and data, but there are speed limits on several data-intensive uses.

Sprint has joined the bandwagon of carriers redefining what an unlimited data plan should be.

Despite Sprint's excitement about revealing these changes, it's hard not to notice that what the company is really doing is taking its current all-encompassing plan and splitting it into two: one crappier version of the current plan at the current price, and one more expensive option that adds a few more features over the current plan. This is an improvement over Unlimited Freedom's former 23GB data soft-cap.
