The President of the United States of America visits the UK this week, and if he was any other leader it would be a simple exercise in worldwide politics.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has in the past been an outspoken critic of Mr Trump, with a Scottish Government spokesman saying there are no official meetings planned between the two leaders.

Many people say he's putting the interests of the American people first, while others are angry at his policies and treatment of minority groups.

In the busy south London neighborhood of Brixton, Victor Greetham, who runs a jazz bar, said he hasn't been to a demonstration since he protested against the Iraq War in 2003, but he planned to attend one of the protests against Trump's visit.

The remainder of the trip will see the President in Scotland where will enjoy a weekend of golf at his Turnberry resort.

"It's important for us to send a powerful signal to those who are resisting and campaigning in America that we are standing in solidarity with them", Rehman said.

The 2004 Green Day hit, "American Idiot" is now skyrocketing to the top of the United Kingdom charts ahead of the visit - a boost fueled in large part by the efforts of British protesters and social media. He's not coming here for himself.

Asked about his views on the UK's plans for Brexit, Trump said: 'I would say Brexit is Brexit.

Opposition MPS, backed by an online petition signed by almost 1.9 million people, called on May to cancel the state visit offered when she met Trump in Washington after his inauguration in January a year ago. "I just want the people to be happy".

May is trying to unify her deeply divided Conservative Party behind her Brexit plans with some of her own lawmakers openly speaking of a leadership challenge.

A spokesperson for Downing Street told i the First Lady will be spending time with veterans and school children at a location in London on Friday morning, although they could not comment on where this visit would take place.

At the same time, Trump will be touring a defense site with May outside of London.

Later, Trump will take tea with Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle, a home to the royals for 1,000 years, part of a tour created to keep him away from protesters.

They will attend a black-tie dinner with Theresa May, before meeting the Queen in Windsor on Friday.
