Trump snubs CNN, slams NBC during Theresa May presser

Trump Attacks CNN, NBC in Joint Press Conference With British Prime Minister

Fox News correspondent John Roberts on Friday defended CNN and NBC News after President Donald Trump publicly disparaged the networks and their reporters during a live joint press conference with British Prime Minister Theresa May in England on Friday.

Trump called it dishonest reporting. "And she's a total professional because when I saw her this morning I said, "I want to apologize because I said such good things about you", and she said, "don't worry, it's only the press". [The Sun] didn't put in what I said about the prime minister. "To say that they are not a real network or "fake news" is also unfair", he said. In the interview, Trump said he advised her, but "she didn't listen to me".

"I used to work at CNN".

Roberts, who came under fire after asking Trump a question after the president pointedly rejected ones from CNN's Jim Acosta and MSNBC's Kristin Welker, said descriptions of both networks as "fake news" were "unfair".

A almost identical exchange took place in January 2017, when then president-elect Trump refused Acosta's question, saying: "Not you - not you - you're fake news".

Though CNN-bashing is no new thing for Trump, many wondered at the fact that he went out of his way during an global press conference to insinuate that CNN is not a real network, and the fact that other media outlets allowed it to happen.

Kevin Anderson topples marathon man John Isner in longest ever Wimbledon semifinal
Anderson and Isner's main strength is their service game, which was pretty apparent given that three sets went to a tie-break. The Swiss was heading into the meeting as a favourite, he had not lost any set in his first four matches of the tournament.

Before he had the chance to release his so-called "audio" recordings, however, The Sun released the recordings of the interview themselves.

"Fortunately, we tend to record stories now...we record when we deal with reporters". They have fine journalists there who risk their lives to cover the news around the world. I know Kristen Welker of NBC.

Roberts said in a statement that the reason he asked a question was that "it became clear that the president wasn't going to entertain a question from [Acosta]".

"No, no", Trump responded, calling the network "fake news". "Of course, it happens to be NBC, which is possibly worse than CNN".

"Lesson for the kids out there: no one should ever try to do the right thing with the expectation it will ever be reciprocated", Tapper wrote.

"See, that's such dishonest reporting", Trump fired back.
