World Cup fever soars in England on #WaistcoatWednesday

The French topped Belgium 1-0 in their semifinal matchup on Tuesday to advance to the final and have a shot at winning their second World Cup final (they took the title in 1998).

Gifted a relatively soft draw by the early exit of a number of traditional World Cup superpowers, England reached the semi-finals of a major tournament for the first time since Euro 1996, when Southgate was part of the team.

To be fair to Neville he has been gushing over England's performances in Russian Federation, so he will be quite happy to have been proved wrong by wing back Trippier, centre-back Maguire and goalkeeper Pickford, who have all been enormous so far for the their Country.

He said: 'I know how disappointed England must feel right now but I couldn't be more proud of this team and you should hold your heads high.

"The dressing-room is a really hard place at the moment".

Croatia looked vulnerable from set-pieces against Russian Federation, conceding the equaliser in extra-time via a set-play, so this is an area England can exploit.

Some people reckon Ian Wright mocked Roy Keane's accent on ITV
As fellow pundits Gary Neville and Lee Dixon laugh, Wright says: "We weren't talking about the final, we were having a laugh". Keane, a former Ireland global , tore into the hysteria and took aim at Ian Wright in the ITV studio.

"It's impossible to say anything to them that is going to make them feel better at this point".

"They've had an incredible route to the final".

"We showed character and mentality, it was very hard for us tonight".

Gareth Southgate applauds England's fans after their semifinal loss to Croatia.

"We are a nation of people who never give in, who are proud and who have character", he said.
