Popular children's cereal Honey Smacks has been linked to a massive salmonella outbreak that has infected 100 people. No deaths have been reported in this outbreak. The most recent of the illnesses was reported to the CDC on July 2, 18 days after the first recall notice.

At least eight people have been sickened in Pennsylvania, the CDC says.

Although Kellogg's recalled the cereals on June 14, the FDA reports that recalled packages of Honey Smacks cereal are still being offered for sale.

The CDC has urged consumers not to eat Honey Smacks "in any size packaging" and to throw opened or unopened boxes in the trash even if some of the cereal had been eaten without people falling ill.

It says that regardless of expiration date, the cereal should be thrown away or returned to a retailer for a refund.

Man with no arms is chief suspect in stabbing case
But Tuesday, the 46-year-old transient artist was arrested and accused of stabbing a Miami tourist with a pair of scissors. Crenshaw claimed he acted in self-defense after Coronado punched him in the head, the Herald reports.

This comes as the federal agency continues to investigate a multi-state outbreak of Salmonella.

In addition, the agency has advised the public to report any sales of the cereal to the FDA Consumer Complaint Coordinator in their area.

The CDC puts salmonella illnesses at 1.2 million per year in the United States, 1 million of which are caused by food. Laboratory testing also identified the outbreak strain in samples of leftover Honey Smacks cereal collected from the homes of ill people in Montana, New York, and Utah. Products with a "best if used by" date between June 14, 2018 and June 14, 2019 in several sizes have been recalled, but the FDA has recommended consumers avoid any box of the cereal.

Contact a healthcare provider if you think you got sick from consuming recalled Honey Smacks cereal.
