Angels manager Mike Scioscia to step down following 2018 season

Angels outfielder Mike Trout confident he will return to lineup on Saturday

We'll see how this one plays out between now and November. Of those 17 managers, 12 are Baseball Hall of Famers. For Los Angeles Angels manager Mike Scioscia, that day may be just around the bend.

Los Angeles Angels manager Mike Scioscia is expected to step down at the end of this season, according to a report by Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. But now that doesn't appear to be the case.

Scioscia was named the American League Manager of the Year in both 2002 and 2009.

Rosenthal reported that Scioscia has not received pressure from the club to leave, and that it was unclear whether Scioscia would want to manage another team immediately.

Scioscia, a two-time American League Manager of the Year victor, led Los Angeles to the 2002 World Series title and has also won six AL West titles. Major League Baseball's longest tenured manager is in the midst of his 19th season after managing his first Angels game on April 3, 2000. Only 17 other managers have won more games than Scioscia.

Scioscia has 1,625 career wins.

The 59-year-old is in the midst of his 19th consecutive season as the Halos' skipper, the longest stretch since Bobby Cox's 21-year run with the Atlanta Braves.
