Gatwick resorts to whiteboards for flight information after IT crash

Gatwick Airport

London Gatwick Airport has descended into chaos after flight information screens suddenly stopped working.

Images shared on social media show hundreds of people gathered around the whiteboards trying to find out where their gates are.

Both the north and south terminals at Gatwick Airport, London, were affected by an IT failure that led to its screens not working, the airport tweeted around 8:30 a.m. on Monday morning.

A Gatwick spokesperson told Sky News that only "a handful" of people have ended up missing their flights.

The problems have been going on for at least three hours at one of the UK's busiest airports. You have to get to the airport, deal with security, then hang around the overpriced shops and cafes while waiting for the gate information to pop up on a big electronic screen.

The Blues made Kepa the most expensive goalkeeper in the world on the final day of the Premier League's summer transfer window. I could have gone back to Spain or Italy, all the people believe in me there but I want to change all the things here.

Many frustrated passengers have taken to twitter to slam the airport for the chaotic scenes.

"Due to an ongoing issue with Vodafone (VOD.L) - a provider of IT services for Gatwick - flight information is not being displayed correctly on the airport's digital screens and is now being displayed manually in the terminals", the airport said in a statement.

Some 45.6 million passengers travelled through Gatwick Airport a year ago, according to statistics from the Port Authority of NY and New Jersey.

In a tweet, the airport blames an "ongoing issue" with Vodafone, who provides IT services for the airport.
