Great white shark breaches below researcher off Cape Cod

WATCH Great white shark jumps out of water startles researcher

This big fellow just appeared out of nowhere with his mouth wide open - it was like someone had opened a packet of Tim Tams in another room.

The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy posted a video on their YouTube page of the close encounter with the great white shark while on a research trip in Wellfleet, Massachusetts.

Great white sharks can get up to 20 feet long, and have powerful tails that enable them to swim up to 15 miles per hour and breach the water during an attack, says National Geographic. That's when it suddenly breached the ocean's surface.

The minute-long video, which has gotten almost 80,000 views in the past day, was posted by the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries and the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy.

'Mighty Ducks' star Shaun Weiss arrested for public intoxication
According to TMZ Sports, actor Shaun Weiss was arrested early Sunday morning on public intoxication charges in Oroville, Calif. Police say he was doing things like " shining a light in his own face " and they suspected he may have been high.

In the video of the incident, the boat's captain screams, "Holy crap!" Mr Skomal can be heard saying in the video. But seeing it, and capturing it on video, is rare. "White sharks are wild and unpredictable animals".

But even he was a little surprised when a shark he spotted during a recent tagging trip breached the water and jumped up with its jaws open.

The group called it a good reminder of the importance of not becoming complacent and always staying vigilant when in or on the water.

The encounter occurred just off the beach in Wellfleet on Monday, July 30, and recorded on a camera mounted on the flying bridge of King's boat Aleutian Dream. In 2015, the nonprofit shared a video it had captured of a shark coming up and out of the water while trying to sink its teeth into a seal.
