Hector remains powerful Category 4 storm southeast of islands

Hurricane Hector could collide with erupting Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii

Hector has entered the Central Pacific as a Category 4 Hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale, with increased forward movement near 15 miles per hour and maximum sustained winds are near 140 miles per hour.

Hector is expected to continue moving west and have a slight increase in speed over the next couple of days.

Hurricane Hector is expected to pass Hawaii by the middle of the week, although by that time it could weaken into a tropical storm.

Hector is about 1360 miles (2190 kilometers) east of South Point, Hawaii, and is forecast to cross into the central Pacific by Sunday night or early Monday.

The County of Hawai'i reports that the county is preparing for the arrival of Hurricane Hector in the Central Pacific region later this week.

The NHC forecast gradual weakening on Monday night through to Wednesday.

MoviePass limits users to 3 movies per month in pivot to survive
MoviePass has existed for years, but it used to be a little-known, significantly more expensive program. Now, more than 3 million people subscribe to MoviePass .

While there are no coastal watches or warnings in effect, the NHC said that people on the Hawaiian islands should keep an eye on the storm. The center of Hector will pass just south of the Big Island by about 150 to 200 miles, close enough to the Big Island to bring enhanced showers and thunderstorms and gusty winds.

"Hector is our first hurricane this year".

Hurricane Hector updated track as of 11 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018.

Earlier, the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency advised residents to prepare an emergency kit that includes at least a 14-day supply of food, water and other supplies. The United States Geological Survey said Saturday that the volcano is still sending large amounts of lava into the sea.

Lava spewed from Kilauea since May 3 has covered 13.4 square miles (34.7 sq km) of the island's surface, destroying more than 700 homes and displacing thousands of residents.
