Premier League referee quits — Bobby Madley

PSG_English

Madley, 32, was regarded as an official the Premier League hoped would become a leading referee on the worldwide stage so his decision to quit has come as a shock.

"Bobby Madley is no longer employed by PGMOL", read a statement from the Professional Game Match Officials organisation.

The circumstances around his departure are unclear, but it is thought it could be linked to a video posted on social media.

The official from West Yorkshire was not present at last week's meeting of all select group referees at St George's Park, where they were tested and prepared for the season.

Rail unions are to blame for fare hikes, Chris Grayling suggests
Chris Grayling, the Transport Secretary, wants to pin fare rises to the lower rate of CPI, which now stands at 2.3 per cent. Passenger groups, unions and politicians reacted with anger after the cap on regulated fare rises was confirmed.

Madley was excluded from the list of referees for the Premier League's first weekend of fixtures, which is rare but not unheard of. His older brother Andrew Madley continues to officiate in the Football League.

'We understand that he has chose to relocate due to a change in his personal circumstances'.

He was the centre referee during the Community Shield final between Chelsea and Arsenal at Wembley.

Last season he officiated high profile matches between Manchester United and Chelsea, and Liverpool and Arsenal.
