Tourist racks up $64k in speeding fines in Dubai

A British man believed to be in his early twenties rented a Lamborghini Huracan to drive around the city

We shouldn't do so for sure. "It's his fault and he should pay that amount".

The tourist was driving a Lamborghini Huracan when he racked up all the fines.

Drive it like you hired it: A British visitor took just three hours to clock up 33 speeding tickets.

The man rented a DH1.3 million worth Lamborghini, which he drove at the reckless speed of 240kmph on Sheikh Zayed Road.

The speed limit on the busy road is 120km/h (75mph), but on the way towards Abu Dhabi it rises to 140km/h (87mph).

Farah Hashi, 25, incurred the staggering fine from 33 speeding tickets with the DH1.3 million (AU$478,000) luxury vehicle just four hours after renting it from Saeed Ali Rent a auto last month.

Normally, the fees are charged to the registered owner of the auto, which would be Ibrahim, as the driver was a tourist. For his part, the tourist has submitted his passport to the dealership until the issue is resolved. He is now concerned he may face a huge loss because he did not take a deposit from the tourist. The problem now is who should pay for the fine.

On the front of the device is a 20MP selfie snapper with AI-powered Beautify 4.0, HDR, and Portrait Mode features. Sensors on the handset include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, and proximity sensor.

Ebrahim said the police can not interfere in cases like these and have advised him to take the matter up to the court to seek compensation.

Despite the presence of fines, the tourist has the right by law to leave the country.

The owner said he also has to replace the brakes of the supercar as they were ruined by such high speed in such a short amount of time.

A spokesman for the firm said the company was now refusing to collect the vehicle due to concerns it will have to pay the fines if the penalties go unpaid. This can stop them from leaving the country.

Racking up fines of AED70,000 for 12 violations and then another AED105,000 to get the auto out of impound, the vehicle dealership is reluctant to retrieve the vehicle from the hotel, as it can not pay the impound fines. At time of writing, it's understood the driver and his 602bhp Italian supercar are still at his hotel, and Mr Ibrahim is still holding the tourist's passport. I won't be trying to take it back, because once I do, I know I have to surrender it to police.

"Then who pays the money for the impound?"
