Viral petition calls for LeBron James to REPLACE Betsy DeVos

Thousands petition for LeBron to take over as U.S. Secretary of Education

Betsy DeVos was hired without ever setting foot in a public school - and she's taken every opportunity to work against the interests of the children, teachers, and families she has pledged to serve.

"LeBron James is an inspiration to kids all over the country", the petition continues. The petition will apparently be sent to Mr. Trump after collecting its target number of signatures, which has increased to 13,000 as more people sign.

Created by Rebecca G. of The Care2 Community project, the petition was launched a week after James opened a new elementary facility in OH called "I Promise School" for at-risk youngsters from under-privileged backgrounds.

Trump didn't take long to fire back at James after the long-known critic of the 45th president told CNN host Don Lemon in an interview about his newest charitable deed, in which James slammed Trump - saying he uses sports to "divide" Americans and would "never" sit across from him.

Six days after James opened his "I Promise" school in Akron, a public school aimed at educating underserved youth, Curry, along with his wife Ayesha, opened the Stephen and Ayesha Curry Family Foundation Education Lab at Bushrod Recreation Center in Oakland, a few rooms away from the gym he refurbished in January. We certainly deserve better!' the petition reads.

Tottenham make Premier League history by completing no summer signings
Premier League returns this weekend and Tottenham Hotspur kick-off the 2018/19 campaign with a trip to St James' Park to take on Newcastle United on Saturday.

James has been widely praised and received national media coverage for his support of at-risk children when his I Promise public school officially opened last month.

You know LeBron James the National Basketball Association superstar, the philanthropist and soon-to-be Hollywood producer.

The petition poses a hypothetical situation in which the public is in charge of hiring a new US secretary of education and they can pick between two candidates - the sports legend James or DeVos.

On Wednesday, Curry defended James against the Twitter jab from Donald Trump.
