Another sex accusation hurled at Trump Supreme Court nominee

A new accusation of sexual misconduct against Judge Brett Kavanaugh emerged last night, just hours after a Senate hearing was set for Thursday for the Supreme Court nominee and Christine Blasey Ford to vet her misconduct claim.

In a statement provided by the White House, Kavanaugh denies the event ever happened.

Blasey and Kavanaugh are scheduled to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee about Blasey's accusations on Thursday.

Deborah Ramirez, a classmate of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh at Yale, is accusing him of exposing himself to her at a college party, and, at the goading of his friends, thrusting his penis into her face to laughter and calls of "kiss it".

WASHINGTON, DC - SEPTEMBER 04: Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh appears before the Senate Judiciary Committee during his Supreme Court confirmation hearing in the Hart Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill September 4, 2018 in Washington, DC. The person said Mr Kavanaugh would also appear.

Trump, speaking to reporters on his way into the United Nations on Monday morning, said Kavanaugh "is an outstanding person, and I am with him all the way".

His spokesman, Conn Carroll, said "the New York Times has poked significant holes in The New Yorker story. Sen". Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., called for the panel to postpone the hearing following the latest allegation. When asked about that Monday, Conway said that "it's been put on hold for weeks now" because Feinstein waited until late in the process to raise Ford's allegations, despite previously being aware of them.

"No innuendo has been too low, no insinuation too dirty", Hatch said in a statement, adding that the committee should proceed with its Thursday hearing. He said Kavanaugh was "under assault by radical left wing politicians" and suggested Ford should have filed charges as a 15-year-old when she was attacked. "It is being replaced by a game of delay, deception and wholesale character assassination".

Accuser of Trump's court nominee sets conditions for testifying
Grassley said the Senate Judiciary Committee has offered to hold a hearing with Ford in any format, time and place of her choice. He said he was "disturbed" to hear that she had been facing threats and harassment but urged her to speak before the committee.

The controversy over Kavanaugh is unfolding just weeks before November 6 congressional elections in which Democrats are trying to take control of Congress from Trump's fellow Republicans, against a backdrop of the #MeToo movement fighting sexual harassment and assault.

In backing away from deadlines and demands, Mr Grassley underscored the sensitivity with which Senate Republicans have tried handling Ms Ford.

Durbin told ABC's "This Week" that some Republicans "reached out to Democratic senators and assured them that they are looking to this as kind of a determination as to how their final vote" on Kavanaugh is cast.

Ramirez was reluctant at first to speak publicly "partly because her memories contained gaps because she had been drinking at the time of the alleged incident", The New Yorker reported. "I knew that's not what I wanted, even in that state of mind". The vile threats of violence against my family will not drive me out. "The last minute character assassination will not succeed", Kavanaugh wrote.

Grassley's counsel said in a note to Ford's lawyers that "the Chairman asked me to relay again that he will do everything in his power to provide a safe, comfortable and dignified forum for Dr. Ford to testify". We talked to a roommate who said he was indeed frequently drunk and he took part in activity that is not surprised of this claim and found this woman credible.

Trump made clear he considered the allegations politically motivated.

Joining the maelstrom, Michael Avenatti, the attorney representing porn actress Stormy Daniels in her legal fight with President Donald Trump, claimed to represent a woman with information about high school-era parties attended by Kavanaugh and urged the Senate to investigate. "In my opinion, it's totally political".
