The White House is open to having Deborah Ramirez, the second woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct, testify on Thursday alongside the first accuser and Kavanaugh, press secretary Sarah Sanders said Tuesday.

Christine Blasey Ford, a California professor, alleges Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her when they were high school students in suburban Maryland.

With Republicans pressing hard to get his nomination approved as soon as this weekend, Kavanaugh and Blasey Ford are to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday in what could prove a fiery hearing.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell made clear that, no matter what happened at the hearing, the full Senate would vote on Kavanaugh's confirmation.

Joining the maelstrom, Michael Avenatti, the attorney representing porn actress Stormy Daniels in her legal fight with Trump, claimed to represent a woman with information about high school-era parties attended by Kavanaugh and urged the Senate to investigate.

Kavanaugh was nominated by Trump in early July to succeed Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy, the court's swing vote on social issues such as abortion, affirmative action and same-sex marriage. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, in which she asked for "fair and respectful treatment" and said she had "one motivation in coming forward - to tell the truth about what Mr. Kavanaugh and his friend Mark Judge did to me".

A handful of senators in both parties remain undecided on Kavanaugh's nomination.

Grassley told TPM: "The attorney is a staff counsel, hired just like all the other lawyers we hired for the Supreme Court, and we have done it because we want to depoliticize the whole process, like the Democrats politicized the Anita Hill thing".

That man had called Griffen's wife and he brought Griffen home but told police upon arrival that he "didn't feel safe at all". Klawiter told officers that Griffen had not been acting like himself lately, and it seemed he was having a nervous breakdown.

While discussing the Kavanaugh allegations Sunday on CNN, Haley said sexual assault accusers should not be blamed or second-guessed.

Trump said Ford's allegation was 36 years old "and nobody ever heard about it".

Democrats called for the FBI to investigate Ms Ford's claims, a request that was unlikely to be met as President Donald Trump and Senate Republicans have said it is unnecessary.

"She said she was totally inebriated", he said of Ms Ramirez.

The claims, dating back to the conservative judge's high school and college days, threaten to derail what was seen as an all-but-certain confirmation to the lifelong post on the top court. And she says: 'Well it might not be him.' And there were gaps. "I've never sexually assaulted anyone", Kavanaugh said in the interview, sitting alongside his wife.

A third woman is expected to step forward with new allegations this week. Regarding alcohol, he said he never drank so much that he could not remember what happened the night before. We're talking about an allegation of sexual assault. "The coordinated effort to destroy my good name will not drive me out".
