Michael Jordan makes two enormous donations to Hurricane Florence victims

President Trump descended from his jumbo jet onto Cherry Point this morning to assess the damage from Hurricane Florence and was met with an array of local and federal politicians. "It's just another hurdle to get over in life".

The President then met with local and state officials, SC senators Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott, and Congressman Tom Rice at the Horry County Emergency Operations Center, assuring them that Washington is behind the county and will provide federal help.

Water from the flooded Waccamaw River surrounds a house in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence in Conway, S.C., on Wednesday.

Although Charlotte was spared from the wrath of Hurricane Florence's fury, the Hornets organization thinks awareness is critically important.

"Despite persistent and ongoing efforts, floodwater rose rapidly and the deputies were unable to open the doors to reach the individuals inside the van", the police statement said, according to the Greenville News.

Some of those who left shelters may have been headed toward the coast on US 421, where a long line of cars, utility crews and trucks loaded with generators sat in a traffic jam. By Monday evening, 25 people were confirmed dead in North Carolina. Compounding the problem, storm runoff from North Carolina - which was battered by Florence - is now flowing through the Palmetto State via the Yadkin-Pee Dee drainage basin, which terminates in Winyah Bay near Georgetown, S.C.

A high water team eventually rescued the two deputies who were escorting them. They were placed on leave pending an investigation.

Florence: Two patients dead after van swept away in floods

The president later told reporters the homeowner told Trump his insurance company didn't want to pay for the damage, according to the report.

"Tonight's incident is a tragedy", Sheriff Phillip Thompson told the Greenville News. He advised people to stay off the flooded roads, even ones with only a few inches of water on them, and to not drive at all if possible, because a road could be swept away "in a matter of minutes".

Association CEO Graham Boyd said about 40 per cent of the crop was still in the field when the storm hit.

Interstate 95 runs from the Canadian border to Miami, Florida - covering 1,917 miles and passing through fifteen states (more than any other Interstate in America). It is also the top producer of tobacco, but estimates for crop losses aren't yet available. Farmers are also concerned about cotton, sweet potatoes, peanuts and corn, but swamped roads and fields have made it hard to assess the damage.

Earlier in the day, Trump was handing out meals to hurricane victims and told one person in a vehicle, "Have a good time" as if they were going to an entertainment outing.

There is also some concern that hog lagoons and their farms could harm human health, according to the Times.
