Netanyahu to Putin: 'Syria responsible for shooting down Russian plane'

Putin said it was the result of

He claimed that Israel was using Hezbollah and Iran as an "excuse".

Russia, Iran, and Hezbollah are all fighting on behalf of Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime in the country's civil war.

Moscow blamed Tel Aviv for the incident, saying its military planes deliberately "created a risky situation" that led to the crash. Russian Federation added that it reserves the right to retaliate.

This response was echoed by Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, who declared that the "blame for the downing of the Russian plane and the deaths of its crew members lies squarely on the Israeli side". -General Igor Konashenkov, chief spokesman of the Russian Federation Ministry of Defense, in a video statement.

Putin has accepted Israel's offer to share the information on the Israeli airstrike in Syria, the Kremlin said Wednesday. 'Until now, Russia's armed forces have granted Israeli jets the freedom to strike targets in Syria at will, on the condition that a sufficiently early warning is provided to Russian Federation, ' said Charles Lister, a Syria expert with the Washington-based Middle East Institute. But Putin took a more cautious tone, describing the incident as 'a chain of tragic accidental circumstances.' At the same time, he said Russian Federation will respond by 'taking additional steps to protect our servicemen and assets in Syria.' 'It will be the steps that everyone will notice, ' he said.

Russia on Tuesday summoned the Israeli ambassador after a Russian plane was shot down over Syria, an incident Moscow has blamed on the Israeli air force. It added that Israeli planes were already in Israeli airspace when Syria fired the missiles that hit the Russian plane.

Putin had said the incident was the result of "tragic accidental circumstances", warning Netanyahu against carrying out such operations in the future and pledging to beef up security for Russian forces in Syria. Each of these was also a violation of "Syrian sovereignty". The Syrian S-200 missile defense system was responding to a wave of strikes by four Israeli warplanes.

Nokia 7.1 Plus press renders leaked ahead of launch

Israel does not normally acknowledge its airstrikes in Syria, at least not until much later. Hassan Nasrallah says his group may reduce the number of its fighters in Syria because of an easing of the conflict, particularly after a recent Russian-Turkey agreement that prevented an offensive on the last rebel stronghold.

Since intervening in Syria in 2015, Russian Federation has usually turned a blind eye to Israeli attacks. The IAF stated that Assad's Syrian military regime is fully responsible for the downing of the Russian plane on Tuesday.

Moscow said the deal "confirmed the ability of both Moscow and Ankara to compromise.in the interests of the ultimate goal of a Syrian settlement by political and diplomatic means". Russian Federation has set up a similar framework with Israel and Turkey.

In declaring the agreement Monday, the Russian and Turkish leaders didn't mention restoring the Syrian government's authority in Idlib.

This would entail a "withdrawal of all radical fighters" from Idlib, including the once al-Qaeda affiliated Hay'et Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).

Idlib is the only large region in Syria that is still controlled by illegal armed groups.
