New Huawei earbuds offer unique power combination

Huawei released the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro previous year, with the Pro model opting out of the jack-a setup that will also carry over to this generation.

Huawei hasn't exactly gone to great lengths to hide the two (or rather three) smartphones scheduled for official October 16 announcements in London, but the company probably never wanted all the info about the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, and Porsche Design Mate 20 to be out in the open so early. The Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will reportedly have a cool bonus if you also buy the upcoming Freebuds 2 Pro true wireless earbuds.

In more images, he shows off the Freebuds 2 Pro, which look like a almost flawless AirPods knockoff.

No, the wireless charging will be for the case itself; it can be charged via USB-C, through Qi wireless charging, and in a remarkable move, from the Mate 20 - wirelessly - too.

The Huawei Freebuds 2 Pro will have an undeniable AirPod vibe, but the alleged charging system seems rad. Marketing materials for the Mate 20 and Freebuds 2 Pro say that you can also use the phone as a charging pad. The updated version will come with a much nicer looking charging case/dock, and will pair with the Mate 20 (or other device) over Bluetooth 5.0. Huawei indicates the new earbuds use bone conduction technology to help isolate a user's voice, making the earbuds more effective when used for voice commands.

With a rumoured price of around $249 at launch, the Freebuds 2 Pro will not be cheap, but with the features they offer, I'd suggest they'll be a popular accessory for the Mate 20 range.
