Second Case of West Nile Confirmed in Camden County

Resident in Sugar Land tests positive for West Nile Virus

The Mississippi State Department of Health says two new human cases of West Nile virus have been confirmed in the state. WNV cases have been reported in all of the continental United States.

Officials have confirmed that a woman in her late 30s tested positive for the virus and they are now working with the Camden County Mosquito Control Commission to conduct additional spraying and mosquito testing in the area.

The most recent West Nile Virus (WNV) victim, according to blackburnnews.com, was from Canada.

It is noted that the first deaths in Romania was recorded in August.

Iowa is experiencing its worst West Nile virus outbreak in 15 years. The virus is transmitted through bites of infected mosquitoes. Of these, 17 people died. In more severe types of infection, the virus can cause high fever, severe headache, stiff neck, altered mental state and death.
