Smart won't live in fear after kidnapper release
The woman who kidnapped Elizabeth Smart is enjoying her freedom after 15 years behind bars.
Barzee's lawyer said she's been diagnosed with several mental illnesses.
Barzee will also have 9 p.m. curfew.
Speaking Wednesday night at a previously scheduled event in Pennsylvania, Smart called the day "a roller coaster of emotion".
The 15-year federal prison sentence was handed down in exchange for Barzee's cooperation in state and federal cases against Mitchell, CNN reported.
Barzee was not seen by reporters leaving the prison in the Salt Lake City suburb of Draper.
Aiding Mitchell in following his so-called "divine revelations" prompted Barzee to help him kidnap Elizabeth Smart and even sit next to her as Mitchell raped her, Ed Smart said.
When asked what specifically she is afraid Barzee will do, Smart said just on past behavior alone, she believes Barzee is unpredictable. Mitchell is serving a life sentence.
He said Barzee can not contact the Smart family or Mitchell.
China says US has 'no right' to interfere in Russia military cooperation
Officials said there is an understanding with the USA government that with regards to India there needs to be a different position.
Smart used words like "evil", "dark" and "twisted" to describe what Barzee was like when she was held captive.
Previously, it was announced that Barzee would be required to meet immediately with a federal probation officer, would be placed on the Utah Sex Offender and Kidnap Offender Registry, would be required to actively participate in a mental health treatment program and she can not consume alcohol, court records state. Her home will be subject to inspections as well, and she'll have to undergo some mental health treatment, the newspaper said.
As another condition of her release, Barzee was placed on the Utah sex offender registry, but her address was still listed online Wednesday as the Utah prison.
Barzee was treated at Utah State Hospital for about five years following her arrest. Her attorney questioned whether the term included time Barzee had served in a federal prison.
Smart told reporters last week she was anxious that Barzee remains a threat, something the woman's lawyer denies.
She'll have a federal agent assigned to her, and have to keep that agent informed of where she is living and working, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
"Upon further review and advice from legal counsel, the Board must count time spent in federal custody toward Ms. Barzee's state sentence", the board said in a statement.
Part of Wanda Barzee's plea deal was a requirement that she write an apology, Smart said in an interview aired Wednesday on "CBS This Morning".
In the interview, Smart also stressed that victims like herself shouldn't be blamed, tempting though it may be.
