Apartment floor collapses leaving 30 injured near Clemson University

Police said 30 people were injured when the floor of the apartment clubhouse collapsed during a party on Homecoming Weekend in Clemson, South Carolina. Reports say many people were taken to local hospitals with injuries but none were considered life-threatening. "Nobody was trapped", he said.

Tester said emergency responders were there in just minutes, and he saw people holding their arms or with bloody legs. The scene of joy and celebration quickly turned to horror and screams.

News reports cite a Clemson City Police Department news release as saying a call was received around 12:30 a.m. Sunday about the collapse of the floor at an apartment clubhouse.

The incident occurred in a clubhouse at the apartment complex, a couple of miles from Clemson Univ. Social media footage captured the first floor collapsing onto the lower level just after midnight.

Clemson police are conducting an investigation into the collapse.
