Asus's insane gaming phone to launch on October 18 for $899

The Asus ROG Phone has everything you need for serious gaming but it doesn't come cheap

The ultra-comfortable design of ROG Phone includes unique side-mounted ports, and the enhanced, ultra-responsive game controls - including two programmable ultrasonic AirTriggers and advanced force-feedback haptics - let gamers focus all their skills on the game, giving them the edge they need for total domination.

Then, a few days ago we learned that the ASUS ROG Phone was getting ready to launch on October 18th and that it would be coming with a slew of (quite pricey) accessories for those who wanted in on the gaming smartphone ecosystem. And while interested mobile gamers don't have to wait that long to get one, it also means they'll have less time to save for what is, as expected, an expensive kit. In terms of specs, the ROG Phone is pretty much right there alongside the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9, LG V40 ThinQ, and the rest of the brood. It has a 6-inch, 2,160x1,080 AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, 8GB of RAM, 128/512GB of storage, a 12/8-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel selfie camera and a 4,000mAh battery. A convenient mobile and desktop switch allows users to seamlessly transition from their phone to their desktop or gaming laptop, without having to adjust their current setup.

And then there's the whole host of accessories that make the ROG Phone feel nearly like a Nintendo Switch.

The Mobile Desktop Dock will be priced at $229.99 Dollars, and allows gamers to connect ROG Phone to an external 4K UHD monitor, mouse and keyboard.

Asus is planning some big things for its upcoming ROG phone. There has been some news about both of these companies releasing successors to these devices but ASUS and its ROG Phone has been in the works for a while. And now it's revealed pricing and pre-order availability.Credit: Tom's GuideThe company said late on Tuesday that it will begin accepting preorders for the Asus ROG (Republic of Gamers) starting on October 18.

Customers will be able to pre-order it online at the ASUS Store, Amazon, and Microsoft, as well as in Microsoft Store on Fifth Avenue in New York City, where the launch will officially take place. Accessories will be available starting this quarter as well.
