The Kaduna State Government on Sunday imposed a 24-hour curfew on Kaduna town and its envrions. "The imposition of the curfew is with immediate effect", Samuel Aruwan, spokesman to the government, said in a statement. "It is with immediate effect", he said.

Sunday afternoon, trouble spilled from the flash point at Kasuwar Magani, where the traditional leader was kidnapped last week, into parts of the city centre.

NO few than 40 persons have so far been killed as a result of a communal clash between Hausa and Adara youths in Kasuwan Magani, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Kaduna state police Commissioner Ahmad Abdur-Rahman said Friday that 22 people had been arrested in connection with the violence.

He said a curfew in Kasuwan Magani imposed by the state government on Thursday had helped to calm the situation.

A similar crisis erupted in February in the area and left more than 10 people dead and hundreds of shops and residences burnt.

Over 60 people are facing charges over the February violence.
