Ford Is Making Another 350 GT Supercars To Satisfy Incredible Demand

All Stars Contender 2017 Ford GT 22

Ford will be reopening ownership applications for the supercar, but instead of offering up 1,000 cars like it did when the auto was initially released, only another 350 will be built this time, according to Autoblog. Now Ford says it will make 1,350 through 2022.

Some investors have voiced concern that extra vehicles will stunt values and asking prices, yet we believe nothing is likely to change, as successful European applicants from the extended production volume will only be eligible for Ford GT vehicles produced in the 2020 to 2022 production batch.

The company says as demand for the GT outstrips supply six to one (6,506 people applied to own one of the first 500 cars...), its chose to increase the production run from 1,000 to 1,350 cars. That's 350 units more than the original limit. Previous unsuccessful applicants, the brand says, need to confirm or modify their original application to be considered in this latest window.

"The response to our Ford GT has been unprecedented, with initial demand outstripping supply by more than six-to-one", said Hermann Salenbauch, Ford Performance director.

Ford is set to re-open its final owner application process for the Ford GT from November 8 for 30 days. If you're selected, you don't have to put down a deposit or any money to hold your spot - but you may not receive your vehicle until 2022.

Ford GT production hasn't been without issues either.

The carbon fiber GT is assembled for Ford by racing specialist Multimatic and powered by a 647 hp twin-turbocharged V6 that's related to the one offered in the F-150 pickup.

When it was first announced, there were only plans to build 500 examples of the GT.
