Four players from National Football League team the Jacksonville Jaguars were arrested in London on Saturday after allegedly attempting to leave a nightclub without paying a £50,000 bar bill, reportedly leading to a brawl with security staff.

A Jaguars statement confirmed the detentions, saying: "We are aware that four of our players were detained over restitution of a bill".

Police were called to the club in the early hours of Saturday morning following reports of a fight.

The Jaguars (3-4) play Philadelphia (3-4) at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

None have been named, and they said any punishment would be "handled internally".

None of the Jaguars players were charged with a crime and the bill was eventually resolved, Rapoport added.

Reportedly, the brawl stemmed from the players being accused of trying to leave the nightclub without paying their tab of £50,000 (about $64K) and then "squared up to bouncers outside the nightspot".

The players went to a club on Friday night, were sent bottles of champagne and other high-end liquors and ran up a huge bill, sources told Rapoport. Many logistical problems will still have to be overcome, but teams relocating is firmly back on the agenda, as this season's previous two games in London have shown.

Kickoff against the reigning Super Bowl champion Eagles is set for 9:30 a.m. ET.
