"Journey Sharing" is a feature that the Google Maps team rolled out for Android users a year ago, which allows for folks to share their real-time location with those they approve. In an update headed out to users this week, you'll see an improved experience when sharing your location, ETA, and route.
To share your trip progress, tap the up arrow (^) in Maps while navigating.
The feature also provides hand-free access for individuals awaiting another person's arrival. Once the trip finishes the sharing session is automatically finished so you don't need to worry about letting someone track you after the trip is finished. Check your Play Store or App Store for the latest version of Google Maps.
