Google Pixel 3 initial review

Google Home Hub

Their appearance is not exactly as indicated by the myriad leaks and rumors surrounding the two phones.

The Pixel 3 smartphones come with exclusive in-camera Google Lens suggestions that work in real-time on URLs, emails, phone numbers, addresses, and QR codes.

Taking design inspiration from numerous other handset manufacturers, the new Pixels move away from previous models and have a glass construction. The Top Shot, Super Res Zoom and Night Sight features seem particularly impressive. There is a 12MP rear-facer on both handsets, while facing forward are two 8MP cameras. This may not sound like anything too special, but Google tries to compensate with software gimmickry.

What's surprising is how few new truly exciting features the Pixel 3 XL actually has. This feature will be limited to the U.S. initially. Google's also boasting an integrated Titan Security system - the same security that Google uses internally - and automatic system updates in the background.

The Google Pixel Slate uses a brand new 12.3in "Molecular Display" display with 3000 x 2000 resolution and 400 nits of brightness.

Google also launched a $79 Pixel Stand, which will let you charge your Pixel 3 wirelessly, and can also turn it into a smart display. Who needs a Google Home Hub when you have a Pixel 3? You don't have to manually categorize or share each photo.

And, importantly, you must select them yourself. While the Pixel 3 XL may be better optimized to run smoothly with just 4GB of RAM, there is much more storage capability on the Note 9. Both are available first in English.

"Don’t get flu, get immunised" Global Positioning System urge
It is a good idea to get a flu vaccine because it "prevent (s) you from getting the flu during the flu season", Burgos added. The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone six months and older, including pregnant women.

Although Google's Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones are set to dominate proceedings, it has also been heavily speculated the tech firm could debut a new tablet. If you press that screen button, the Pixel's AI will answer and start asking questions of the caller on your behalf. In real time, the Pixel will transcribe the caller's response for you to see and choose what to do. And it is pushing its cable-cutting YouTubeTV service, which costs $40 a month but which you now get for free for six months when you buy a Hub (a value that is more than the actual cost of the device).

Everybody knows that no matter what Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg and his antisocial network says ("Facebook doesn't listen to, view, or keep the contents of your Portal video calls"), the Portal will be used to gather and sell your personal data. Processing the call details on-device means these experiences are fast, private to you, and use up less battery.

"This Chrome OS device is both a powerful workstation at the office, and a home theatre you can hold in your hands", a blog post from Google introducing the new device says. It comes in black or white, with green and pink options available exclusively on Google's online store.

The Pixel Slate is a strong first showing by Google, but it may need a little more than what it now has to offer in order to make any kind of dent in the Surface line's impressive hold of the 2-in-1 segment.

Wear OS is where Google has made a decision to focus its efforts for now (frequent updates rather than yearly ones), and once the software is sorted then maybe we'll see a Google Pixel Watch.

The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are now up for pre-order and will be released in Australia on November 1 in White, Black and a new colour called "Not Pink".
