Keira Knightley won't let her daughter watch Disney movies and here's why

Keira Knightley at the Elle Women in Hollywood event in Los Angeles Calif. on Oct. 15 2018

The actress recently appeared on Ellen, where she discussed what it was like to parent her 3-year-old daughter, Edie.

Knightley will be playing the "Sugarplum Fairy" in Disney's upcoming adaptation of "The Nutcracker".

Keira Knightley is setting limits on her daughter's viewing habits.

After the audience applauds her answer, Knightley explains the reasoning behind her Little Mermaid decision.

"Cinderella, banned because she waits around for a rich guy to rescue her", Knightley said.

"Don't. Rescue yourself, obviously", Knightley said.

As a result, the actress has forbidden her three-year-old daughter, Edie Knightley Righton, from watching certain movies.

Rehabbing Russell Westbrook out for Thunder opener
The 2017 league's most valuable player averaged 25.4 points per game last season to go along with 10.3 assists and 10.1 rebounds. The Thunder will likely deploy recently acquired Dennis Schroder to supplant Westbrook during his absence.

Knightley admitted she loved "The Little Mermaid", especially the songs, but conceded that Ariel's decision to give her voice up to the villain, Ursula, in pursuit of Prince Eric was a bad example for little girls.

"And this is the one that I'm quite annoyed about because I really like the film but The Little Mermaid", she added. "I thought, you know, that's a stable career..."

Knightley - who has always been outspoken about women's rights and the ways women are depicted - recently wrote an essay called "The Weaker Sex" for the book Feminists Don't Wear Pink (and Other Lies) in which she got real about giving birth.

"What if she would want to be in this business?"

The mother also talked about her daughter's wild aspirations in life. I am up with you [her daughter] all night if you need me. "My male colleagues can be late, cannot know their lines". They can turn up drunk or not turn up at all. "They're working. They need to concentrate".

The movie comes out November 2.
