Man Attempting to Kill Son with Chainsaw Gets Run over by Mower

An ongoing feud between a father and son in Bristol, Tennessee, led to a violent battle with a chainsaw and a lawnmower as weapons.

A Tennessee father tried to kill his son with a chainsaw, but he instead got run over with a lawnmower, say deputies.

Douglas Ferguson, 76, was charged with attempted second-degree murder by the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, ABC 8 reported. Per the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, "The son defended himself against the attack by running over the suspect with the lawn mower".

Ferguson remains in jail as of Sunday morning on $25,000 bond, a jail official told Law&Crime.

It is alleged as Ferguson, 67, came at his son with a running chainsaw.

While the incident took place June 28, Douglas Ferguson was only indicted Tuesday after recovering from injuries he sustained as his son allegedly fought in self-defense.

Ferguson was transported to hospital where he eventually had to have his leg amputated. He faces one count of attempted second-degree murder, and probation violation (the suspect was previously convicted for aggravated assault).

Police said both men had been at odds for a long time.
