Marvel Comics Fires Star Wars Writer Over Tweets

Writer Chuck Wendig Fired from Marvel’s Star Wars Books

Wendig noted in his Twitter thread that when Aftermath was released, it was immediately met with a deluge of one star reviews, despite just being released - suggesting a "downvote brigade" meant to hurt the author and brand rather than a series of earnest negative feedback.

In statements on a blog post and on Twitter, Wendig, who was writing for Marvel's Shadow of Vader comic book series, as well as an unannounced Star Wars book, opened up about the firing, which he says was due to "vulgarity" and "negativity" on social media. I was literally at a midnight release of the book, and when I got done, there were already a pile of one-star reviews piling up - which seemed unusual, obviously.

No new writer for Star Wars: Shadow of Vader has been named.

Marvel confirmed to SYFY WIRE that the company and Wendig were parting ways but had no further comment.

Sanders kicks FG as Dolphins rally past Bears in OT
The rookie made a 47-yard field goal as time expired in overtime Sunday for a 31-28 victory over the Chicago Bears . Despite the high-tallied finish, it wasn't until the second half that either offense managed to do much.

Another Disney employee finds himself without a job following controversial tweets, as writer Chuck Wendig has been fired from the company.

In the past two years the notoriously toxic Star Wars fandom has driven Daisy Ridley and Kelly Marie Tran off of the internet, the former for being a woman, the latter for being an Asian woman.

Chuck also revealed that he faced a lot of harassments through the Internet and YouTube, Facebook, Reddit etc which led him to file a police complaint against them. And privately, I was told by folks inside LFL that there was no worry here, that they valued that I spoke out both speaking up for myself and for STAR WARS, which has always honestly been a progressive brand and company.

A number of people even began mocking Making Star Wars. Do you think they will stop covering Star Wars comics as well? I have a dire fear this is going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better.
