Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Hands-On: A Snapdragon-powered Surface rival

To tackle the competition of the Microsoft Surface Pro, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Book 2, a successor of the Galaxy Book launched a year ago.

For the industry standard price of $999.00, people can pick up this new Always Connected 2-in-1 PC for retail on November 2nd at most places or at Verizon, Sprint and AT&T with an LTE plan. The Samsung Book2 sports a similar grey aesthetic all around, from tablet to pen, a magnetic keyboard, and kickstand. For anyone who can get pass the relatively easy upgrade process, the new device is actually a fully loaded PC experience.

We don't have a United Kingdom price yet, but the Galaxy Book 2 price is $999 in the US. For now, the Galaxy Book 2 offers a few compelling features that differentiate it from its rivals, but we'll have to spend more time with it to know if it'll truly stand out.

Battery life is also a highlight of always-on devices, and the Galaxy Book 2 will get up to 20 hours of life per charge, according to Samsung.

Samsung today announced the new Galaxy Book2, a Windows 10 S Mode 2-in-1 device powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 processor (Quad 2.96GHZ + Quad 1.7 GHz).

LTE support comes courtesy of Snapdragon's 850 mobile system-on-chip with an integrated X20 LTE modem. With up to 20 hours of video playback*, you can even stream longer than before. The second generation of machines, however, uses the Snapdragon 850, a variant of the Snapdragon 845 that's designed for the bigger batteries and higher power dissipation of laptops and tablets. The 2-in-1 will be offered with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. In-camera department, there's an 8-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera for selfies.

It has a rather nice 12-inch 2,160 by 1,440-pixel AMOLED display (216 pixels per inch) is fully compatible with Samsung's S Pen stylus, which comes bundled in the box, along with a detachable keyboard that attaches magnetically to the bottom bezel, allowing you to scribble notes and mark up documents easily.
