Selena Gomez receiving mental treatment after 'emotional meltdown'

Selena Gomez

Sources told TMZ a family member took Gomez to Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles, and though she was released a few days later, she was readmitted late last week because her low blood cell count hadn't changed and it had sent Gomez into a downward emotional spiral.

Selena Gomez has reportedly checked into a mental health facility following an "emotional breakdown".

It's not the first time that Selena has been treated for mental health issues with DBT.

Selena was then taken to an East Coast psychiatric facility, where she is now receiving dialectical behavior therapy.

The outlet reported that when Gomez insisted upon leaving the hospital and was refused by doctors, she had a "meltdown", sources said, trying to rip an IV out of her arm and undergoing an "emotional breakdown". The site notes that the condition could stem from her kidney transplant. "She's doing better now and is seeking treatment on the East Coast", a source told PEOPLE.

First Death Reported as Hurricane Michael Devastates Florida Panhandle
Michael is making its way northeast toward Georgia and the Carolinas at about 14 miles per hour (22.5 km/h). Up to a foot of rainfall was forecast for some areas, still recovering from Hurricane Florence's flooding.

It comes after Selena posted on 23rd September that she was taking a break from social media, and admitting to fans on an Instagram Live that she has suffered from depression for the past five years. She's gone through it before, so it's not a completely new experience for the actor and singer.

In addition to still being anxious about her best friend, the source told Radar tonight, she is still reeling over ex-boyfriend Bieber's quickie engagement and marriage to Hailey Baldwin just months after their split.

She added, tellingly, "Just remember- negative comments can hurt anybody's feelings".

The 26-year-old was hospitalised twice in the last two weeks.

Gomez was first hospitalized in the last week of September, and again last week.
