Trump co-signs Saudi Arabia’s Jamal Khashoggi cover-up, late-night pundit says

A joint team of Turkish and Saudi Arabian investigators finally entered the consulate this afternoon after days of wrangling between the nations

Security barriers outside the Saudi Arabia consulate in Istanbul.

Consul General Mohammed al-Otaibi left Turkey Tuesday afternoon, state media reported, just as police began putting up barricades around his official residence.

Saudi officials have repeatedly denied any involvement in Khashoggi's disappearance and say they have no information about his whereabouts.

Turkish authorities have an audio recording indicating that Khashoggi was killed in the consulate, Turkish sources have told Reuters. They put the president at odds with other key allies and with some leaders in his Republican Party who have condemned the Saudi leadership for what they say is an obvious role in the case.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu meanwhile said no confession from the Saudi side has been made yet regarding the missing journalist.

Secretary of state visits Saudi Arabia to discuss the disappearance of the Washington Post activist; Rich Edson reports from the State Department on the talks.

On Monday, Trump tweeted that he was sending Pompeo to meet with King Salman in an effort to "find an answer".

He added: "It sounded to me like maybe these could have been rogue killers".

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said Tuesday the US should "sanction the hell out of Saudi Arabia" over the incident and said he would never again work with the crown prince, assailing him as "toxic" and calling him a "wrecking ball". This guy is a wrecking ball.

Griezmann double gives France comeback win over Germany
Antoine Griezmann scored twice as France came from behind to claim a second Nations League victory and continue Germany's abysmal run in 2018.

However, The New York Times and CNN report that the kingdom is preparing to acknowledge in an official report that Khashoggi died during a botched interrogation. "They had come to kill him", the source told MEE.

This may explain in part Mr Trump's "rogue killers" line, though it would still leave questions unanswered.

On Monday, Turkish and Saudi officials arrived at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul after the start of a joint probe into the missing journalist.

For the first time since the journalist disappeared two weeks ago, Turkish investigators were allowed to enter the building.

But hours before the Turkish forensic team arrived, journalists photographed a cleaning crew entering the consulate, hauling buckets, mops and what appeared to be bottles of cleaning solution.

The Turkish investigators, some wearing overalls, gloves and covered shoes. stayed for about nine hours, leaving in the early hours of Tuesday. United States intelligence officials have reported they are certain the interference took place in an effort to hurt Hillary Clinton's campaign. The president told AP Tuesday that that description was informed by his "feeling" from his conversation with Salman, and that the King did not use the term. "Who knows?" the president said, describing the situation as "terrible".

"This guy has got to go", said Sen.

Turkish sources allege he was killed by a 15-strong team of Saudi agents but Riyadh insisted earlier that he left the consulate unharmed.
