The Xiaomi Mi Box S is an upgraded model to the Xiaomi Mi Box, which was initially launched in 2016.

Taking forward its lean portfolio of products in the U.S. market, Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has unveiled its latest Mi Box S 4K Ultra HD streaming media player in the North American country. Google's voice services can be called up using a button on the newly-designed remote; one that also now packs in a dedicated Netflix button and a Live TV button for tuning into your digital TV channels. The Mi Box S is priced at $59.99 (Rs 4,450) and will be available for pre-order on wallmart. The current estimated shipping date is November 3. The Mi Box S also comes with a new remote. The Mi Box S can also be used as a gaming console, by downloading games from Google Play Store.

Powering proceedings is a quad-core CPU, backed up with 2GB of RAM and there's 8GB of storage on board. Along with Google Assistant, the Mi Box S comes with a boost in the OS department by drawing on Android 8.1 (Oreo) from launch.

This streaming gadget joins the slim Xiaomi US portfolio that previously consists of the Mi Power Bank Pro 10000mAh; a few Mi Headphones; the Mi Bluetooth Speaker; a home security camera, action camera, and Mi Sphere Camera, as well as certain lifestyle products.
