7-Eleven joins cashierless trend with grab-and-go test

Cashier-less checkout

The payment feature is integrated within the 7Rewards loyalty program, allowing customers to earn and redeem coupons or rewards.

United States convenience retail brand 7-Eleven is set to pilot a new Scan & Pay feature that will enable customers to browse and shop at branches without having to check out with a cashier.

"The biggest complaint about retail shopping is waiting in line and checking out", he said. The only products banned from cashier-less check-out are hot foods, lottery tickets, alcohol and tobacco. "We asked "'How do we disrupt that and redefine convenience?' We saw a great adoption and feedback".

Users pay for purchases using Apple Pay, Google Pay or a traditional debit or credit card.

7-Eleven has a total of 67,000 locations in 17 countries worldwide, including almost 12,000 in North America. About 50% of the USA population lives within one mile of a 7-Eleven, the company said.

EPL: Leroy Sane speaks on leaving Manchester City for Manchester United
The German star has not been convincing for his manager Pep Guardiola after his slow start to this Premier League season. He added the following about him not being given gametime at the start of the season: "I have not been anxious at all".

The news from 7-Eleven comes a week after Sam's Club announced it was opening a cashier-less store in Dallas, called Sam's Club Now. More than 60 percent of stores are franchised. "We are ready to adapt to the changing consumer patterns and changing demands of the consumer". The first Amazon Go debuted at the company's Seattle headquarters in 2016 but opened to the public this past January.

"Our focus is on making consumer experiences better", he said. I don't need to involve another set of technology if I can solve the speed issue. "How do they onboard, and how do they use it?" said Singh.

The retailer is testing the new mobile self-checkout feature at 14 convenience stores in Dallas, with plans to expand the service. "7-Eleven continues to redefine convenience by providing frictionless experiences for our customers with Scan & Pay".

"The future of 7-Eleven relies on great merchandisers, operators, and the geeks", he told me. "We are thinking like a software company".
