Amazon will go bankrupt one day, CEO Jeff Bezos tells employees

Jeff Bezos' company Amazon is probing cases that employees have accepted bribes for internal data

Amazon is just shy of a $1 trillion market value and CEO Jeff Bezos is the richest man in the world but still, Jeff predicts that one Amazon will fail and the goal of the company was to delay the inevitable for as long as possible. To postpone the end of the company's lifespan, Bezos argued that Amazon needs to focus its energy on its customers, rather than worrying too much about the internal dynamics at play. "It's reasonable for large institutions of any kind, whether it be companies or governments, to be scrutinized", said Jeff Bezos reported CNBC.

Amazon will go bankrupt one day, Jeff Bezos, the CEO of the e-commerce colossus worth nearly $1 trillion, told his employees in a stunning admission.

Amazon this week announced it was going to expand into two new locations for its second headquarters, dubbed "HQ2", which will mean an increase of roughly 50,000 employees.

In the meeting that took place last Thursday, a Amazon employee asked Bezos about the company's future.

"If we start to focus on ourselves", he explained, "instead of focusing on our customers, that will be the beginning of the end".

He further said that one day Amazon will fail but their job is to delay it as long as possible.

Amazon, over the past few years, has notably expanded and presently has more than 550,000 lakh people working for it worldwide. It now has over 600,000 employees and a stock price that's quadrupled over the last five years.

"It's a fact that we're a large company", he said, according to a recording obtained by CNBC.

Amazon turned 24 in July of this year.

Several Amazon employees, who agreed to speak with CNBC on condition that they not be named because they're not authorized to talk about the issue, said that government regulation and the potential for antitrust violations are big concerns among staffers as they look at the company's future.

Amazon also became a subject in an antitrust investigation by European regulators into the company's use of data.

"Most of the companies that are multi-hundred-year-old companies are breweries", he said, laughing.
