American detained in North Korea deported back to USA, official says

North Korea has chose to expel a U.S. citizen who illegally entered the country last month, Pyongyang's official KCNA news agency said on Friday.

KCNA said Mr Lawrence told his captors he had illegally entered the country "under the manipulation of the CIA".

But North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's supervision of the reported hi-tech weapon's testing is saying to the United States that "we can go either way", Yun cautioned.

A man by the same name was deported from South Korea in November 2017 after attempting to cross into North Korea.

Experts say North Korea has been growing increasingly frustrated with the United States over Washington's insistence that sanctions would be lifted only at the end of a long process of denuclearisation.

"With talks stalled and the Trump administration continuing to emphasise that no sanctions relief will be granted until denuclearisation is completed, the United States should expect signalling from Pyongyang that North Korea can also ratchet up pressure on negotiations".

The three men travelled home with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and were greeted by Trump on their arrival at an air base near Washington.

Mercedes tribute to 'exceptional' Lewis Hamilton after F1 constructors' title win
Hamilton joined Mercedes in 2013, the same year as Wolff, and since 2014 has won 50 of the 99 races, an average of 10 per season. It's been such an incredible journey and by no means has it been easy for anybody.

But the reports from North Korea's state media about Pyongyang's decision to deport a USA detainee could be viewed as a positive gesture for future diplomatic engagement.

It did not specify when the USA citizen will be deported. Washington past year banned its citizens from travelling to North Korea without special permission, the only country for which such a restriction exists.

"With Pyongyang testing what appears to some sort of new weapon as well as voicing its anger in state media over and over that negotiations with Washington are not where they want them to be, we should continue to watch the Korean Peninsula very carefully", Kazianis advised.

Otto Warmbier was returned to the U.S. in a comatose state and later died, worsening tensions between the two countries.

"The testing of the high-tech tactical weapon has been carried out successfully, meeting all superior and powerful designing indicators", Yonhap news agency reported, citing an announcement from North Korea's state-run Korean Central Broadcasting Station.

North Korea has suspended nuclear and missile tests as it endeavours to improve relations with the outside world, and there was no indication this weapon was nuclear-related or a missile. "North Korea is saying 'If you don't listen to us, you will face political burdens, '" analyst Shin Beom-chul of the Asan Institute for Policy Studies in Seoul told the Associated Press.

Progress has since stalled as Washington and Pyongyang spar over the meaning of the document.
