AT&T To Disconnect Repeat Copyright Infringers 11/07/2018

AT&T may soon ban repeat piracy offenders from its Internet service

According to insiders that have spoken up, the company plans to soon cut off the service of customers who have repeatedly downloaded copyrighted content despite at least nine past warnings to stop. Similar to other internet providers, AT&T was previously part of a "Copyright Alert System", an internet industry group effort that worked with the movie and recording industries to educate users to try to cut down on copyright infringement. More than a dozen customers will reportedly be notified of the service banhammer in coming days.

Apparently, the United States telecoms company has plans to inform a dozen people who've infringed upon the copyrights of protected content that they will be kicked off of its broadband service.

While ISPs have long reported pirating claims to customers, this is the first known time that AT&T is actually taking action against its customers.

The content owners contacted AT&T when they found about an internet connection illegitimately sharing the copyrighted content.

White House Defends Ban on Reporter
The New York Times also noted that Acosta's monologues have led "some of his rival White House reporters" to roll their eyes. She's gets publicity, and then she gets a pay raise and a contract with I think CNN .

Such a heavy-handed move appears to have been kept for repeat offenders and has likely come about as a result of AT&T acquiring content-producing firm Time Warner for $86bn.

AT&T has now begun to disconnect customers accused of infringement - that is, accused of watching TV or listening to music in ways that are suboptimal for media companies' shareholders.

The news comes only days after Dish Network was hit with an HBO blackout, the first time that has ever happened to the network.

HBO had accused Dish of being too hard to negotiate with, allegedly pushing "unreasonable terms" at the company.
