Roy Clark died in Tulsa, OK on November 15, 2018.

Country music entertainer Roy Clark, who crossed over to the mainstream via the long-running variety show "Hee Haw", died Thursday at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The legendary "superpicker", GRAMMY, CMA and ACM award victor, Country Music Hall of Fame and Grand Ole Opry member and co-host of the famed "Hee Haw" television series, died due to complications from pneumonia. His death was announced in a statement from his publicists. Clark even headlined a tour in the Soviet Union in 1976, when that was still a rare opportunity for American performers. "Clark also displayed his six (or, in the case of his cover of "(Ghost) Riders in the Sky, 12)-string prowess with his instrumental covers of pieces like "Malagueña".

Clark, an incredibly gifted string musician, made his first appearance at the Grand Ole Opry at the age of 17. In the mid-'50s, Clark honed his television chops as a regular on Country Style, the D.C. -based television show hosted by Jimmy Dean, eventually taking over as host after Dean relocated to NY.

In 1963, he had his first Top Ten hit with his somber version of Bill Anderson's "Tips of My Fingers".

His biggest hit was 1969's "Yesterday When I Was Young".

Clark was a Grammy, ACM and CMA award victor, and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2009.
