KXIP release Yuvraj, Finch ahead of IPL auction

Yuvraj Singh

Kings XI Punjab on Thursday parted ways with local boy and India's 2011 World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh along with eight other players that include Australia's limited overs skipper Aaron Finch, ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction next month. Amongst the foreigners who've been retained is West Indies' opening great Chris Gayle, South Africa's David Miller, Australian pacer Andrew Tye and Afghanistan off-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rehman. While nine players have been retained, they had already traded Marcus Stoinis for Mandeep Singh.

A pale shadow of his former explosive self now, the 36-year-old Yuvraj managed just 65 runs at an abysmal average of 10.83 in the eight games he played for the Kings last season.

While these teams retained the core of their squad, it means that they will have less money to spend at the IPL 2019 auction, which is set to take place in December. "A lot of factors came in while retaining the players", said newly-assigned coach Mike Hesson. Apart from Yuvraj and Finch, they have let go off Axar Patel, Mohit Sharma, Barinder Sran, Ben Dwarshuis, Manoj Tiwary, Akshdeep Nath, Pardeep Sahu, Mayank Dagar and Manzoor Dar.

Jim Acosta can keep his White House press pass, court rules
For a White House correspondent like Acosta, the White House, or wherever the President is travelling, is his workplace. After all, the president has fueded with Acosta and CNN for a long time. "It was the day after the midterms".

While Yuvraj had a boring season after returning to Kings XI, his first IPL franchise, Finch's release does raise some eyebrows considering his outstanding form in T20 cricket this year.

Traded: Marcus Stoinis for Mandeep Singh.
