Vijay's Sarkar joins Rs 100 crore club in just two days

Sarkar Box Office First Day Collection (Kerala): Becomes The Top Day 1 Grosser?

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Law minister C.V. Shanmugam on Thursday condemned actor Vijay's recent release "Sarkar" for allegedly attempting to instigate violence in society and said that it is not less than a terrorist instigating people for violence. The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) minister has demanded that they be cropped from the film. These scenes are seen as obvious references to the Jayalalithaa's flagship schemes to provide these household items free of cost to voters, in keeping with an electoral promise made in 2011. "This is not good for a growing star like Vijay".

Senior AIADMK leader D Jayakumar said it was an attempt to malign the former party chief.

The film has had a phenomenal opening and has broken several collection records, including the one held by "Sanju" for all India collections. He claimed that the Jayalalithaa's death has "emboldened" the makers of the film.

The mangled wreckage of BHP's runaway train which derailed in Western Australia
BHP said yesterday it planned to use its stockpile reserves at the port in order to maintain supply over the coming days. The train began its getaway when the driver stepped off to inspect a wagon.

The film also collected Rs 2.41 crores in Chennai city on its first day of release, surpassing Rajinikanth's Kaala that made Rs 1.76 crore.

Going by the reports, Sarkar has broken the day 1 record of Baahubali 2 at the box office. Even as the state ministers took on the actor and the film's producers, neither actor Vijay nor Sun Pictures preferred to react to the developments till Wednesday evening. "People will not accept it, since welfare schemes (freebies) are given only to uplift the downtrodden and not as a gift to attract support (votes)", Anbalagan told reporters near Harur in Dharmapuri district. "It was brought to our knowledge and this was disappointing".

He warned that the state government would be forced to intervene, if the scenes are not removed. It has become the first Vijay film to do so. BJP's Tamil Nadu chief, Tamilisai Soundararajan, had pointed out how some scenes showed the Goods and Services Tax and Digital India in poor light.
