White House Revokes Press Pass Of CNN's Jim Acosta

Trump attacks members of his own party and shouts at CNN’s Jim Acosta in wild press conference

The ban on CNN's Jim Acosta came after a heated exchange at a White House news conference Wednesday where Trump called the TV reporter a "rude, awful person" and an "enemy of the people".

Footage of the incident shows the intern tried to reach under Acosta's arm to take the mic from him, and his arm came down on hers as he continued to try asking his question of Trump.

"CNN should be ashamed of itself, having you working for them", Trump told Acosta during the press conference, as the reporter battled to keep a microphone amid attempts by a female intern to retrieve it.

Crucially, however the video appears to have been doctored.

The statement from Sanders said "we will, however, never tolerate a reporter placing his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job as a White House intern".

But it's not his vigorous questioning that has seen Acosta's White House press pass suspended.

Wednesday's event, which began with the president framing Tuesday's election results as a victory for himself and the Republican party, was Trump's first planned, open-ended press conference at the White House since February 2017, and only the second since he took office.

CNN said "this president's ongoing attacks on the press have gone too far", in a statement.

During the White House news conference, Acosta and Trump sparred over a question of whether Trump had "demonised immigrants" by calling a caravan of Central American migrants "an invasion".

New Zealand have set Pakistan a target of 267 runs in the first ODI of the three match series in Abu Dhabi . The New Zealand batsman was seen signaling the umpire about Hafeez's bowling style.

The President laid into Acosta during a heated exchange with the reporter, later banning him from the White House.

"Honestly I think you should let me run the country and you can run CNN", he said in the press conference at the White House. They way you treat Sarah Huckabee is disgusting and the way you treat other people are awful.

"The most unsafe type of fake news and reporting and evidence is when you get into the fine details, the nuanced things that are shaped to present a certain viewpoint or decision or news a certain way", he said. He said she was rude for interrupting another reporter, though he did briefly answer one of Ryan's questions. You are a rude awful person you shouldn't be working for CNN.

Acosta also tweeted a video of a Secret Service official taking his White House credential from him.

"I don't know", he said. Those were reporters working with CNN, NBC, other networks.

She went on to say that she, in general, doesn't like when men touch her without permission, but said what Acosta did was not assault. They are not only risky, the are disturbingly un-American.

MANDEL NGAN via Getty Images CNN's Jim Acosta has become a favourite foe of Donald Trump in his rallying call against "fake news" and the "mainstream media".

Craig Aaron of the activist group Free Press called Trump's actions "a direct and risky attack on the public's rights to hold their leaders accountable" and called for "a unified stand" by the press corps.
