12 million pounds of raw beef recalled nationwide

USDA expands ground beef recall, says 12 million pounds pose salmonella risk

More than 12 million pounds of ground beef are being recalled due to concerns of salmonella contamination.

The recalled products were packaged between July 26 and September 7 and were sold nationwide under brand names Walmart, Cedar River Farms Natural Beef, Showcase, Showcase/Walmart and JBS Generic.

The total amount of "non-intact raw beef products" that have been recalled now exceeds more than 12 million pounds. "267" inside the USDA mark of inspection, and were shipped nationwide.

When JBS launched its initial recall on October 4 on the USDA's website, there were 54 people in 12 states who had been confirmed with infections from Salmonella Newport, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's outbreak announcement, which was also posted on October 4. Hospitalization becomes necessary for about 1.9 percent of salmonella sufferers, according to the CDC, but this outbreak has put 59 people (24 percent) in hospitals. It usually hits between 12 hours and three days after eating food with salmonella and hangs around for four to seven days. Older adults, infants, and persons with weakened immune systems are more likely to develop a severe illness. Individuals concerned about an illness should contact their health care provider.

The USDA is concerned that some product may be frozen and in consumers' freezers.

Use common sense when hearing President's jokes - Palace
Like the Duterte spokesmen before him, Panelo changed tact by emphasizing how the President is "entitled" to make jokes.

FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers.

Consumers should discard or return any recalled beef.

In addition to throwing away the concerning product, the FSIS urges to always cook raw meat to safe internal temperature to kill any Salmonella.

Anyone who has eaten any of the recalled products and developed symptoms of Salmonella infection should seek medical attention.
