Bethesda's attempt to fix a Fallout 76 blunder leaks angry shoppers' PID

Unfortunately there were rather a lot of receipts, thanks to the many people who bought the £175 Fallout 76 Power Armor Edition who were claiming the canvas bag Bethesda advertised. Fallout 76 could be pre-ordered in a pricey Power Armor set, complete with a wearable replica helmet and a tote bag.

According to Bethesda's dev team, the update is meant to "address a service issue", but whilst the game is planned to be down for just two hours, it could very well take longer. This required logging onto Bethesda's help-ticket system and submitting a few things for replacement-bag processing: a picture serving as proof of purchase, complete with hand-written name, Bethesda.net username, and receipt, along with a shipping address and phone number. "I am receiving every single one of your support tickets on my Bethesda account", said Jessiepie. "I can see the problems you are having with the game, yes I'm having them too".

Other Reddit users added their own allegations of the same issue, with one public screenshot showing multiple, confused replies to the same support-ticket thread.

Bethesda has confirmed that they will not be providing patch notes following today's downtime. We're talking mailing addresses, email addresses, and credit card numbers.

Just as Bethesda seemingly gains control of its Fallout 76 collector's edition fiasco, it seems as though the company has struggled to keep a lid on customer information. While the publisher initially justified its actions, calling the model seen on the poster a "prototype" with no plans to rectify the situation, it did double back on itself to offer replacements to those who submitted a ticket to Bethesda support.
