According BCCI acting-secretary Amitabh Choudhary's statement, 771 Indian and 232 overseas players have enrolled themselves for the auction.

South Africa leads the way in terms of players registered, with no less than 59 hailing from these shores, including Proteas speedster Dale Steyn, who is perhaps the most high-profile player in the running. Bangladesh players and Ireland players have also been asked to head back home by April 15 and April 30, respectively.
