Blake Griffin goes off for 44 points in revenge game against Clippers

Steve Ballmer Blake Griffin

Blake Griffin clarified what went down with Clippers owner Steve Ballmer before Saturday's game between Detroit and Los Angeles tipped off. Griffin told the media after things wrapped up that he wasn't doing anything that was meant to serve as a slight against Ballmer. Ballmer extended his hand for a handshake, but Griffin ignored his attempt and instead seemingly sprinted off the court.

The message was clear: Griffin was prepared to take no prisoners during the contest.

UPDATE: After the Pistons' 109-104 win over the Clippers, Griffin addressed his quick exit off the court, saying running off straight to the locker room is part of his pregame routine, adding "I don't change that for anybody".

When asked if he would shake hands with Ballmer if he was approached at another time, Griffin answered, "I'm honestly not here to answer hypothetical questions".

Andre Drummond was Detroit's second-leading scorer with 20 points. Griffin later said the trade "stunned" him, and at his introductory press conference in Detroit said, "I want to play for an organization that wants me to play there and clearly this was an organization that wanted me to play here".

Rain continues, more snow possible Sunday night
Anne Arundel and Harford County school systems announced cancellation of activities planned for Sunday . We'll see a few flurries, sprinkles and brief sleet pellets during the day on Saturday .

Griffin was greeted with a standing ovation and tribute video in his return to L.A. Reggie Bullock, another former first-round pick of the Clippers, scored 17 points for the Pistons, who had lost nine of 11.

The starting lineup for the Clippers included two players who came to Los Angeles in the Griffin trade; forward Tobias Harris and guard Avery Bradley.

The 29-year-old forward is averaging a career-high 25.1 points and 8.3 rebounds.

Danilo Gallinari led Los Angeles with 23 points, while Lou Williams scored 22 and Montrezl Harrell 21, both coming off the bench.
