Brit nominations revealed: Anne-Marie and Dua Lipa lead the way

Twenty-one-year-old Jorja enjoyed a successful 2018, which has seen her release her debut album Lost and Found.

The popstar, who grew up in Walsall, features in the Mastercard British Album of the Year category, as well as the British Female and British Breakthrough categories.

To win the British Female Solo Artist category she must come above stars Anne-Marie, Florence and The Machine, Jess Glynne and Lily Allen.

The latter are nominated for British Group alongside Arctic Monkeys, Gorillaz, Little Mix and Years & Years.

Last year, Anne-Marie revealed she was attracted to both men and women but didn't want to put a label on it.

Aphex Twin has been nominated for the British Male Solo Artist award, alongside Craig David, Sam Smith, Giggs and George Ezra.

An especially strong worldwide women's category sees Ariana Grande, Cardi B and Camila Cabello compete for the prize. In the film, Monae will play African-American feminist icon Pitman Hughes.

Kevin Abstract, one of the founding members of Brockhampton, told BBC News previous year that being openly gay in the hip hop community can be hard.

The rapper added: "So, me just existing and being myself is making change and making things easier for other young queer kids".

And there were two nominations each for Calvin Harris, The 1975, Little Mix, Tom Walker, Jess Glynne, Rita Ora, Clean Bandit, Florence and the Machine and Rudimental.

The BRIT Awards are the British Phonographic Industry's annual popular music awards - held to celebrate the best musical talent in Britain. The ceremony will take place on February 20th.
